Weather pending, here are the events happening this weekend:

Events

Friday - August 22nd

  • Ashlynn Distillery, Washington Crossing Inn, 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM 
    On Friday, August 22nd (5:30–8 PM), the Washington Crossing Inn will host a special tasting with Ashlynn Distillery, featuring vodka, bourbon, whiskey, rum, and agave spirits. Guests can enjoy an extended happy hour with drink specials ($4 drafts, $6 house wines, $9 mixed drinks) and a one-day-only food menu including salads, calamari, and the Washington Crossing Burger. The evening will also feature live music by Acoustic Spiral. More info here
  • Sunset Sips & Sounds, Terhune Orchards, 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM 
    Terhune Orchards Vineyard & Winery hosts evenings in the historic apple orchard with Terhune wines, tasting flights, and wine slushes. Guests can enjoy live local music (jazz, blues, folk, rock) from 5–8 PM, farm-fresh bites from the Barn Door Café, and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The winery is open 12–8 PM, making it a perfect spot to unwind, meet friends, and enjoy the sunset on the farm. More info here
  • Dancing Under the Stars, Hinds Plaza, 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM 
    Join the Central Jersey Dance Society for free outdoor dance nights on Hinds Plaza, twice a month from June to September (weather permitting). Instructors will demonstrate easy steps and lead dancing to a mix of recorded music. Dates: June 13 & 27, July 11 & 25, Aug. 8 & 22, Sept. 12 & 26. The Sept. 26 session features Latin music and dances for Hispanic Heritage Month. If it rains or is too hot, the event moves indoors to the Community Room. More info here
  • August Nature Walk, Mountain Lakes House, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
    Take a guided hike on the White Trail at the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve, starting at the Mountain Lakes House and continuing into John Witherspoon Woods, the preserve’s oldest forest. This moderate hike features rocky terrain, a beech grove, winding streams, the boulder fields of the Princeton Ridge, and a visit to Devil’s Cave—a scenic adventure often called Princeton’s own “Central Park.” Wear sturdy shoes and come ready to explore! Saturday - August 23rd

  • Oyster Fest, 9 Rocktown Road, 1:00PM - 5:00 PM
    The Oyster Fest returns with Tiger’s Tale Bar & Grill of Princeton on Saturday, August 23 (1–5 PM). Enjoy fresh seafood, live music, and wine, plus a special reserve tasting of library chardonnays ($20). Tickets include one glass of wine: $50 for members (with discount code) and $60 for non-members. Additional oysters available à la carte; full menu to be posted soon. More info here
  • NJ & PA Washington Crossing Riverbank Cleanup, Nelson House, 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM
    Join the Washington Crossing Riverbank Cleanup on Friday, August 23 (10 AM–12:30 PM), organized by the Washington Crossing Park Association (NJ) and Friends of Washington Crossing Park (PA). Volunteers will meet at the Nelson House on River Drive (NJ side) to help clear debris from the Delaware River banks in preparation for the 250th anniversary of the Crossing.  More info here
  • Fonthill Castle Beer Fest, Fonthill Castle, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m
    Support education, community programs, and conservation at the annual fundraising event on the scenic grounds of Fonthill Castle (Doylestown, PA). Enjoy craft beers, live music, great food, and more in a unique outdoor setting. Tickets start at $95 and can be purchased here
  • Art Opening, Trenton Free Public Library, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
    The Trenton Artists Workshop Association (TAWA) and the Trenton Free Public Library present Recent Works by Thomas Kelly from August 23 – October 11 at the library. An opening reception will be held Saturday, August 23, 2–4 PM.Thomas Kelly, a widely collected, award-winning NJ painter, is known for his colorful, narrative acrylics rooted in Expressionism. With over 350 works collected worldwide, his art is both critically acclaimed and accessible to all viewers.

Sunday - August 24th

  • Rods & Rails Car Show, 495 US-202, Flemington, NJ, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
    Northlandz, the world’s largest model railroad museum, is partnering with Cars and Coffee of Central NJ to host the Rods & Rails Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show. The free event features a wide display of classic cars, custom trucks, and motorcycles, plus live music, food vendors, door prizes, a raffle, and vehicle awards. Families can enjoy the automotive showcase and also explore Northlandz’s miniature railroad world, with registered vehicle owners receiving a special discount coupon for museum admission.   • Hunterdon Wine Train Express, 80 Stangl Rd. Flemington, NJ, 11:15AM - 3:40PM
    Hop aboard the Hunterdon Wine Express for a scenic train ride on the historic Black River & Western Railroad from Flemington to Old York Cellars Winery in Ringoes. Guests will enjoy a guided wine, charcuterie, cheese, and chocolate pairing, followed by a chef-prepared lunch and time to explore the vineyard. The experience includes a round-trip train journey, shuttle service to the winery, and expert guidance from the Old York Cellars wine team. Tickets are $99 and can be purchased here
  • Solar viewing at the Observatory, 1 Observatory Drive, 2:30PM
    On Sundays from 2–5 PM, visitors can enjoy solar viewing through telescopes with special filters at the NJAA Observatory, along with a tour of the facility and an info session with NJAA astronomers. Public visits begin at 2:30 PM with a welcome from Qualified Observers, a history of the association, and a guided tour, followed by telescope viewing if weather permits. Admission is free, donations are appreciated, and astronomers are available to answer questions about astronomy and telescope equipment.
