I used to hate labor day weekend, cause it always meant the start of school that week. But now that I'm an
adult? It rocks.

New Jersey Film Festival, Rutgers University, Starting September 5thThe 44th
Bi-Annual New Jersey Film Festival runs September 5 to October 10, 2025, with both online and in-person
screenings at Rutgers University. Films will stream on-demand for 24 hours from their show date, while
select events—including screenings, free filmmaking workshops, and a Cold Weather Company concert on
October 10—take place in Voorhees Hall in New Brunswick. Tickets are $15 per program, $120 for an
all-access pass, and $10 for students, with workshops free but requiring advance registration, and can

Highland Park Farmers Market, 212 Raritan Avenue, 11:00 am–5:00 pmThe
Highland Park Farmers Market, established in 1996 and located just off Main Street (Rt. 27), runs every
Friday from February through December, offering Jersey Fresh produce, farm products, baked goods,
specialty foods, and more from local NJ farmers and vendors. Along with food trucks and community
partners, the market also hosts special events like cooking competitions, craft days, and live music,

Organic Farming Movement Film, Lawrence Library, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM Join Al
Johnson, director and Vice-President of the Northeast Organic Farming Association, for a screening and
discussion of his documentary
Organic Roots – 50 Years of Northeast Organic Farming Association. The film explores how 1970s
activism around war, nuclear power, and social justice inspired the northeast organic farming movement,
which Johnson has been part of for five decades as both a farmer and inspector. This program,
co-sponsored by the 60’s group, requires registration.

Brunswick Jazz Café Concert, South Brunswick Municipal Complex ,8:00 PM - 10:00 PM Nat Adderley Jr., son of jazz cornetist Nat Adderley and nephew of saxophonist Cannonball
Adderley, studied at LaGuardia High School and Yale University before becoming music director for Luther
Vandross and arranging for artists like Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. He has also composed for
theater, formed the Nat Adderley Jr. Trio, and continues to perform, drawing influence from jazz greats
like Chick Corea, Thelonious Monk, and Herbie Hancock. Admission is $6 at the door, no advanced sales.

Rhythm on the Rails Summer Music Series, 350 Main St. Bound Brook, 7:30PMThe
Bound Brook Revitalization Partnership has launched Rhythm on the Rails, a free
four-part music series at Van Horne Plaza by the Bound Brook Train Station, featuring performances on
July 12, Aug. 2, Sept. 6, and Oct. 4 at 7:30 PM. Showcasing genres from Latin to blues, funk, and rock,
the series highlights artists like Janetza Miranda, Red Hot Chili Jam, Sebba Band, and MPack Band,

Hope's Herrontown Woods Community Collage Project Workshop, 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM Join FOHW Artist-in-Residence Hope VanCleaf in a workshop where
participants decorate a 6x6 canvas tile using their own materials or inspiration from nature. Each tile
