Hope you're looking forward to a nice long weekend. Weather looks chilly this weekend,  with a chance of snow throughout the region on Saturday. Be sure to bundle up if you're heading out!

If you're looking for something to distract you from the cold this weekend, here's what's happening:

Friday - January 16th

  • Dancing in the Dark - Dance Party, West Windsor, 7:30 PM
    The West Windsor Arts Council is hosting a unique “Dancing in the Dark” event where participants can freely express themselves on the dance floor without conversation or social pressure in a dimly lit, judgment-free space. More info here
  • Crys Matthews Concert, Princeton, 8:00 PM
    The Princeton Folk Music Society hosts award-winning singer-songwriter Crys Matthews for an evening blending folk, country, Americana, blues, and bluegrass.Tickets are $25, purchased here.
  • Light Of Day WinterFest 26, Asbury Park, 6:30PM
    Light of Day WinterFest 26 brings a powerhouse lineup including Willie Nile, Joe Grushecky & The Houserockers, Tangiers Blues Band, and more for a night of rock, blues, and Americana, supporting awareness and research for Parkinson’s disease. $32 in advance, buy tickets here
  • MRCC Networking Breakfast, Manalapan, 7:45 AM - 9:00 AM
    The Manalapan Diner will host the Monmouth Chamber of Commerce networking breakfast where local professionals can connect over coffee and conversation, with registration priced at $18 for members and $25 for non-members; more info here.
  • The Godfather Part II in 35mm, Rahway, 7:00 PM
    The Union County Performing Arts Center will screen “The Godfather Part II” in 35mm on its Main Stage, featuring a pre-show concert on the Wurlitzer organ, themed cocktails, and photo ops for fans of the Oscar-winning classic. Tickets are $17, purchased here

Saturday - January 17th

  • FOPOS Tree Tenders, Princeton, 11:00AM - 1:00PM
    Volunteers are invited to join the FOPOS Tree Tenders in Princeton for a hands-on winter training session aimed at caring for native trees and shrubs, removing invasive species, and supporting forest growth. More info here
  • Winery Weekend Music Series, Princeton, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM 
    Terhune Orchards continues its Winery Weekend Music Series in the historic apple orchard, where visitors can enjoy live performances by Jerry Steele and Sarah Teti this weekend along with wine tastings, seasonal food, and farm-fresh goods in a relaxed countryside setting. More here
  • Liquid Games Pokémon Market, Holmdel, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
    The Liquid Games Pokémon Market returns with over 320 tables of trading cards, art, plushies, and collectibles, inviting fans of all ages to shop, trade, and connect in a free, family-friendly atmosphere; more info here.
  • Seal and Winter Waterfowl Walk, Highlands, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
    The American Littoral Society will lead a guided walk from its Sandy Hook headquarters to spot seals and winter waterfowl, offering tips on species identification and insight into how these animals adapt to cold conditions. $20 for non members, register for the event here.
  • Local Art Exhibit, Monroe Township,10:00AM - 5:00PM
    The Monroe Township Public Library’s Fine Arts Gallery is showcasing original works by Middlesex County artists across various media, with entries judged by Jeffrey Wechsler, former senior curator at Rutgers’ Zimmerli Art Museum.
  • Young Auteur Film Festival Screening, Princeton, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
    The Princeton Garden Theatre will host a screening of winning entries from the 2025 Young Auteur Film Festival, showcasing short films by filmmakers ages 16–24, followed by a Q&A with program directors Ashe Lee and Gabe Storino. Tickets are $13, purchased here
      

Sunday - January 18th

  • Free Chamber Concert, Princeton, 2:30 PM
    The Unitarian Church of Princeton will host a free chamber concert featuring performances by local musicians including pianists Mary Greenberg and Chiu-Ling Lin, violinist Kyson Zhou, and cellist Jennifer Guy, with a program spanning works by Clementi, Villa-Lobos, Debussy, and Chopin. Church is located at 50 Cherry Hill Road.
  • Princeton History Walking Tour, Princeton, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
    The Historical Society of Princeton will lead a two-hour walking tour starting at the Princeton Battle Monument, offering visitors an engaging look at Nassau Hall, University Chapel, and Palmer Square while sharing both well-known and lesser-told stories from the town’s rich history.
