January 30th - February 1st

Hey Y'all,

Hope you're handling the snow from last weekend  well. Unfortunately, The weather this weekend looks to be much of the same. We're getting a Nor'easter this weekend, which looks to be dumping even more snow on us.

However, if the predictions are wrong and the weather holds, here's a few things happening this weekend:

Friday - January 30th

  • Nature Board Game Night, Cranbury, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
    Families can gather at Plainsboro Preserve for a free evening of nature-themed board games and puzzles, with participants welcome to bring their own snacks and favorite games for a relaxed night of fun and community (more info here).
  • Gem & Design Show, Somerville, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm
    Venus Jewelers hosts a free two-day event where visitors can meet a gem hunter, view exceptional ethically sourced gemstones from around the world, and work with master jewelers to design unique custom pieces, with attendees entered to win $1,000 in gem giveaways (more info here).
  • Friends of the Lawrence Library January Book Sale, Lawrenceville, 10:00 am - 4:30 pm
    The Lawrence Headquarters Branch hosts its annual book sale featuring thousands of gently used books for all ages, with a special early admission event on January 29 and discounted “$5 a bag” days on Sunday and Monday, accepting cash, check, or Zelle payments only. More info here
  • Book Launch & Conversation, Trenton, 6:00 pm
    Artworks hosts the launch of Atlas’s Bones: The African Foundations of Europe by D. Vance Smith, featuring a live discussion between the author and activist Darren “Freedom” Green on Africa’s deep influence on European history and culture.
  • Gaslight, West Windsor, 8:00 pm
    Kelsey Theatre presents Gaslight, the classic psychological thriller performed by Theater to Go, where manipulation and suspense unfold in a tale of deception and discovery; tickets are $24 for adults and $22 for seniors and students (more info here).

Saturday - January 31st

  • Freestyle Flashback Concert 2026, New Brunswick, 7:00 pm
    The State Theatre New Jersey will ignite with 80s and 90s energy as TKA, George LaMond, The Cover Girls, Brenda K Starr, Cynthia, Coro, Betty D of Sweet Sensation, C-Bank, and Joe Zangie take the stage for a night of classic Freestyle hits, hosted by Sal Abbatiello and Speedy with DJ WhiteBoy KYS, with tickets starting at $46 (more info here).
  • Winter Barrel Tasting Experience, Milford, 1:00 pm
    Alba Vineyard invites guests to a rare cellar tasting led by Nick from the Alba family, offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at wines still aging in barrels, with small bites included and limited seating at $50 per person or $25 for Gold Club members (more info here).
  • Bakery Pop-Up, Somerville, 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
    Revive boutique partners with Breakthrough Bakery for a one-day pop-up event featuring The Girls’ Girl Loaf, a cranberry crumble sourdough topped with bourbon maple glaze, inviting shoppers to enjoy artisan bread alongside unique consignment and fashion finds (more info here).
  • New Jersey Symphony: Romeo & Juliet, Red Bank, 7:30 pm
    The Count Basie Center hosts the New Jersey Symphony and the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey for a moving performance inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, featuring Tchaikovsky’s Fantasy Overture and selections from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, conducted by Xian Zhang (more info here).

Sunday -  February 1st

  • NJ Audubon: Youth Birding Hike, Bernardsville, 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
    Young bird enthusiasts can explore winter wildlife at Scherman Hoffman under the guidance of teacher naturalist Angus Macaulay, with binoculars provided and registration limited to 10 participants aged 10 to 16; tickets cost $20 for members and $30 for nonmembers, with registration closing January 31 at 4 p.m. (more info here).
  • Wassail Festival, Princeton, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
    Terhune Orchards celebrates the ancient British tradition of wassailing with a lively afternoon of singing, dancing, and hot cider to bless the apple trees, featuring performances by local Morris dance groups, live music from Spiced Punch, bonfires, and free family-friendly festivities (more info here).
  • Princeton History Walking Tour, Princeton, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
    Explore downtown Princeton and the University campus with a guided walking tour highlighting historic sites like Nassau Hall and Palmer Square, uncovering both well-known and hidden stories of the town’s past; tickets are $20 and limited to 25 participants (more info here).
  • Bell Works FRESH Valentine’s Day Pop-Up, Holmdel, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
    Bell Works hosts a vibrant indoor marketplace featuring more than 80 local artisans selling handcrafted jewelry, fashion, home goods, and gourmet treats—part of the FRESH Markets series celebrating small makers and community spirit (more info here).
  • Beef & Brew St. Patrick’s Day Parade Fundraiser, Highlands, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm
    The Proving Ground will host the annual Beef & Brew fundraiser featuring Irish dancers, a pipe band, and a buffet with beer to support the 2026 Highlands St. Patrick’s Day Parade, where Grand Marshal Mayor Carolyn Broullon will be honored with her sash; tickets are $50 (more info here).
